Taphath Foose

My name is Taphath (pronounced Ta-fith) Foose. I have dabbled in most of the common mediums (pen and ink, graphite pencil, pastels, colored pencil, ink, oils, acrylics) but my main and most loved medium is watercolor. With a varied style, my portfolio contains impressionism (of which I'm learning and growing in) all the way to realism. I LOVE details. My work is very diverse--from landscapes and buildings to animals and flowers--but I have always followed my creative eye to whatever piece God had next.

I always loved taking pictures and have recently added photography to my portfolio. I have been stretching myself there as well. I love showcasing the hidden secrets of macro--those unseen delicate details that most pay no attention to. And macro has grown into florals and still lifes.

History: As a little girl I don't ever remember NOT drawing. Clothes with matching shoes and earrings is how I started. In 1996 there was a blizzard and we were stuck at home for several days. I pulled out coloring books and reading books with Looney Tunes and The Lion King and began drawing the characters. My school electives were always art and music. The art classes required me to grow as I experimented in different mediums and assignments. I graduated high school at 17 and life happened. High expectations and perfectionism caused me to put aside art. I was extremely discouraged and had no idea why God gave me a talent. In fact, I told Him I wished He wouldn't have given it.

When my father died in 2016 and a difficult journey to the Autism diagnosis for my son the following year, I reluctantly picked up my pencil. God mercifully and graciously allowed art to become a beautiful, healing outlet for me. I started watercolors almost two years ago. He has been whittling and carving and developing my talent ever since.

When I am not spending time with my husband and three boys, painting or photographing, you can find me reading, writing or making music with my various instruments. Art is in my blood and it's in my heart. I desire God to be glorified through my art, after all, it is He who gave it.
