Suggested Artists to Follow on society6
We've added a new feature for new members of society6. When you first sign up we suggest a few artists of interest to follow. This suggestion list will change over time and feature artists that are participating regularly on society6 and doing great work. We look forward to further developing this feature and showcasing a variety of society6 members through it.
Getting inspired
Yesterday we had the pleasure of joining a meet-up in San Diego, hosted by Dave Brown of Holiday Matinee at The Hive co-working space. We were invited by Zack Nielsen over at Sezio and joined by many creative people including Lara Mathews of Thread, Justin Skeesuck of Seen+Noted, Stacy and Sean Kelley of Set & Drift / Sanctuary 143 and many more.

It was inspiring to spend some time with this tight group of creative professionals and artists all working individually and collectively to build the the arts and culture of San Diego and beyond. Thanks to all of you who shared, attended and gave us great feedback and ideas about society6. I'm excited about what everyone there is doing and I expect it to be the birthplace of many great ideas and collaborations.

Getting Nominations helps you to become a finalist
Nominations are a key piece in the Micro-Grants system on Society6. Every grant ends up with a finalist pool based on nominations from other members. Whoever is giving the grant MUST select the winner of the grant from this list of finalists. It definitely helps your chances of being selected by the grant giver if you have a solid number of nominations. It's not a popularity contest but a way to involve the community in the process and try to keep the Micro-grants system fair and manageable.

Society6 is Now Open 3.23.09!
We're proud to announce that as of 9:00:06pm PDT last night, Society6 opened for all Artists and supporters to join!

We have been cranking away to open Society6 for a while now, so this is another great milestone for what we believe is just the beginning of something very special.

Without all of the help and support from our fellow Members, Society6 is just another pile of pixels, so thank you all very much.

All of us behind the scenes at Society6 consider it our mission to empower the world's artists. We also consider Society6 a work in progress of it's own. So, we wanted to begin by rewinding and begin to share with everyone how we got here...

Our friend is an Artist. She was invited to show her work a prestigious art show. When she couldn't scrape together the funds to go, we knew there was a problem. We realized that this happens every day to emerging (and established) Artists from every creative discipline from every corner of the globe. So, we created Society6 in the hopes that this would never happen again.

Please remember that as a Member you can invite your network to join you in Society6 by clicking "Invite" from the drop-down menu under your name at the top of the page. If you are feeling what we're doing, please show your support by helping us attract more Artists, so that we can in-turn attract more Artist Grant resources for our Members.

As always, your feedback (good and bad) gives us the perspective that we're going to need as we continue to polish and improve the Society6 experience every day.

This is one of many big moments for Society6, and we appreciate you taking part!
Society6 members can now invite your friends!
All existing members of Society6 can now invite your friends to join Society6 without restriction.

Just click Invite from the drop-down menu underneath your name on the main navigation, and you can invite your friends, fans, collaborators, etc. to join you in Society6. You can invite as many people as you want, all at once, by separating each email address with a comma.

I cant express how excited we are to reach this milestone. Private beta members, thank you for all your community support and feedback, we could not have made it here without you.

Next up, Public Beta, where invitations will no longer be required and sign up will be open to everyone.
