Home improvement on Society6

Hey everybody! As you may have noticed, we've just made some exciting updates to Society6.

First off, we’ve organized the Posts on the homepage by POPULAR PRODUCTS (Posts with products for sale), and POPULAR POSTS (Posts that do not have products for sale) posted within the last 24 hours.

For those of you that love to promote, we've added VIEW RECENT POSTS showing the 20 most recent Posts to help give even greater exposure to new artists and artwork.

POPULAR ARTISTS features the artists with the greatest number of promotions within the last 48 hours, and takes visitors directly to your artist page within the Shop.

We’ve added “More from this Artist” to your product pages within the Shop to highlight more products for those predisposed to purchase your work.

You can now Follow any artist directly from their artist page within the Shop.

You can now Promote any Post from the product page within the Shop.

We’ve eliminated those pesky “Buy” icons from the homepage, by simply replacing them with the price of your Mini Fine Art prints.

We're on to the next round of goodies...

Thanks again for being a part of Society6!

Looks better.

I like the new format overall but it will be much more difficult for newer people to gain presence at the scale(or rate) that older members have. I hope this site doesn't lose it's "democratic" vibe and and end up being less artful and more "Threadlessy"...
The change has definitely inspired me do some spring-cleaning and to put up more of my work as prints. Maybe the changes will generate more sales for everyone... All in all, this is still the best website of it's kind...

Thanks Bryan! The new organization actually gives new members far more visibility than before, with View Recent Posts at 20, You May Also Like on product pages, Promote and Follow buttons on product pages. Society6 has always been, and will always be 100% curated by its members based on the merit of the work, so get in there and promote the stuff you like!

whoa... I must admit, I feel a little disorientated... How do I get to the normal post through the popular products?
Justin Wills commented on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 1:22pm
We're adding a comments link to each Product page so you can get to the Studio post from there.
Justin Cooper commented on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 1:58pm
@FWD the Comments link is now live, so you can link directly to the Studio Post from any Product Page. Cheers!

Something seems strange in line with Brian's concerns.
When I used to hit the "new" button, I used to get the images just uploaded. That doesn't happen anymore?
zansky commented on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 4:30pm
now we can't see who "promote" the post. I think, is great to know other people too
Justin Wills commented on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 4:31pm
You now click VIEW RECENT POSTS on the right and you will see even more of the NEW, just uploaded stuff. http://www.society6.com/new
Justin Cooper commented on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 4:55pm
@Mike, click View Recent Posts next to Popular Posts to see even more "new" posts than you did before. @zansky, you can still click the Promote button to see who promoted the Post, that has not changed

I feel that it would be better if at the top there were the links to popular posts, recent posts and discover more - kind of like how it was before, just that now there's popular products too. Instead of the popular posts and recent posts being at the bottom on the homepage. Why not have 20 most popular products as well?
Bojan Bundalo commented on Thursday, April 28, 2011 1:10am
I like this new order of things,...top section for popular products with biggest thumbnails (you have to advertise if you want to keep this great site alive, right!??),...smaller thumbnails for popular posts will keep the participating artists covered (only small suggestion here,...instead of 4, put 8 -12 most popular posts,...this way you won't overcrowd the home page, and more people will get a chance for some extra promotion),...popular artists on the bottom of the page (this is OK, as it was before)! Hope I've contributed in some way, to make things better..:) Cheers, guys!
zansky commented on Thursday, April 28, 2011 6:13am
thanks Justin, when I wrote was not working. Now it's ok!
Justin Cooper commented on Thursday, April 28, 2011 9:08am
Thanks for all of the input guys! Please keep in mind that Popular Products are Posts, just like Popular Posts - only these fellow members are making money from their Posts being the difference.
Bojan Bundalo commented on Thursday, April 28, 2011 10:58am
Sorry, Justin:),...I obviously need to adjust that part of my brain in charge for attention..:)) If these are currently popular products, not generally popular products, than I'll just have to say: "Great job, guys!"
Justin Cooper commented on Thursday, April 28, 2011 11:07am
all good Bojan! Yes, every single post on the homepage (product or not) is from within the last 24 hours, same as always.

Hey guys, all in all i think it's a great new contribution! I just joined not to long ago and instantly fell in love with the site. I have a few concerns though. My first is, that for brand new people, who will join today and forever on, may not be aware for a while about viewing recent posts, its a small link next to popular posts that took me a few minutes to realize i could still access. But i do really enjoy that you get to see A LOT of new posts at a time. Lastly it makes me sad that i can't actually "discover more". When I'm in the recent posts & click "discover more" i go straight to the shop page instead of getting a random sample of Society6 goodness. I really liked that prior to the changes when i clicked "discover more" i would see a page of super random posts & products. Maybe this is still available and im yet to find it, if so my apologizes! Sorry for the long comment! I'm just glad that us members have input as well. (:
Justin Cooper commented on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 8:17pm
@Kayla, here is the randomness that you seek http://www.society6.com/prints?show=random

I miss the "Studios". It was a way for me to separate my content into easier to read/follow sections.
Kayla Goldstein commented on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 3:02am
i'm very very upset there is no more studio's.
:: GaleStorm Artworks :: commented on Thursday, May 24, 2012 8:33am
I wasn't here when there was an ability to sort one's work...in 'studios'. That sounds like a nice feature I would really like!

Also, would be cool to have more protection on our art....a watermark, when zoomed or when someone tries to 'steal' or screen shot the piece. There's quite a buzz about S6 not helping the artist in that area??? It seems an easy enough programming function to make the artist feel more comfortable about posting work.

I do love S6...it's a great place to sell art.

Can someone help me?... when i search for my own items by keyword or even by the appropriate category they are not showing up! I have looked everywhere! Is this normal?
Miesha commented on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 5:57am
That's a good idea here. I am enthusiastic to learn more for home improvements, check more such ideas here- www.lednorconstruction.co.uk

Hey, now that you've changed Society 6. How can I see new stuff. Not the most popular... I don't understand why this option to see recent posts was deleted. unless i'm not see something here.
