A few more enhancements; Upcoming, New, Comments, and Promote from your Society

Last week we made some solid improvements to S6, which we encourage all members to read about here http://www.society6.com/studio/blog/H...n_Society6

Based on everyone's feedback (special thanks to Isaac Bidwell http://www.society6.com/studio/isaacbidwell for jumping on the phone with me), we've got a few more for you today...

As you know, all of the Posts on the homepage (whether associated with a Product for sale, or not) were posted within the last 24 hours, and garnered the most promotions from the community - the Popular posts.

We've created the concept of UPCOMING http://www.society6.com/upcoming. UPCOMING is directly accessible from the VIEW RECENT POSTS link on the homepage, and is the forerunner of Popular Posts - the Posts made within the last 24 hours (whether product or not) that are on the rise, and only a few promotions shy of making it to the homepage. You will also notice that since these posts are primarily intended for us members, they will take you directly to the respective artist's Studio.

We've also brought back NEW (also accessible from the VIEW RECENT POSTS link on the homepage) to help give even greater exposure to new artists and artwork.

Members who are logged-in will notice that we've added Comments to every product page within the Shop, which is also another direct link into that fellow member's Studio.

And lastly, we've added Promote buttons to each post within your Society, so that you can more easily promote the work of members that you follow.

this is really great Justin. Now "My Society" is really more useful, it is easier to keep track of activities on my posts

Nice Additions!

I'm liking everything about this. Except for some reason now, when I post a new drawing, it doesn't show up under "New." Is the new section now reserved for new artists only, or is it still just for new posts? Maybe i'm doing something wrong?
Rachael Shankman commented on Monday, May 9, 2011 4:00pm
Nevermind, figured it out!
Carla Broekhuizen commented on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 11:42pm
All great improvements Justin. What also would be nice if I could receive a notification if someone comments on my work. Specialy when there is a comment on older work I dont see that and I always want to react back ;-)

Cheers, Carla

I recently found a need for a gift option in the store. I want to send one of my posters as a gift but I don't want them to know how much it cost or any of my details... Now I have to order to my address, and then have to send it back to the States. :-/
Justin Cooper commented on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 12:49pm
@carla anything that receives a new comment, no matter when you made the post, will show up in your Society.
Justin Cooper commented on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 12:49pm
@eyejacker funny enough, we're working on that, coming soon
eyejacker commented on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 1:01pm
Thanks Justin! :)

Since I was lucky enough to wish for something that happened a few minutes later, I'm gonna go for it and wish for Society6 to introduce a stickers option in the stuff we can sell... I'd love to be able to get stickers from all of these amazing artists!! :-D
Jun Ya commented on Sunday, July 10, 2011 5:12am
Nice changes, the site looks great - more and more professional each time and easier to use as well. I especially like the new format of the personal stores, ordered by popularity, I was reticent to post more prints before because I didn't want some of my favorites to get pushed to a second page. I also like that the comments are not visible to an unsigned in viewer, it makes people feel more free about "talking". I'm curious though why the description is hidden from view in that circumstance?
Also, I've recently noticed, like Carla, that recent comments on my posts from last year do not show up in "my society"...
And yes, Eyejacker, stickers would be very cool!
Justin Cooper commented on Monday, July 11, 2011 9:32am
@Heather, the description is visible, it is just truncated to two lines. Recent comments do show up in your society, and even better, we've added a filter to your Society to view comments on only your own posts by clicking MY POSTS at top right of the column. enjoy
Jun Ya commented on Monday, July 11, 2011 12:18pm
Hi Justin, yes, thanks so much for putting in the MY POSTS I find it incredibly useful! And all the comments on posts from this year do show up there, but ones from last year only show up once I comment back (I've found them by chance).
As for the description, if I sign out and go directly to my store link I do see it there but if I go via the shop all I see are the tags.
Justin Cooper commented on Monday, July 11, 2011 12:20pm
Hi Heather, yes, there is a expiration date on old comments. Your store is a slightly different experience than the Shop, so that is why you won't see lengthy descriptions on the Shop product pages. Thanks.
Jun Ya commented on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 5:46am
Sorry Justin, I wasn't really clear, I meant new comments on old work.
Justin Cooper commented on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 9:26am
new comments on older posts will show-up in your society, which is why I'm seeing your comments on a post I made 2 months ago! :)
Jun Ya commented on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 10:08am
Ok, I commented on something you posted last year, did it show up in your society?
Justin Cooper commented on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 10:20am
It did indeed, thanks. If you're still having trouble can you please email us at support@society6.com and we'll get it sorted
Jun Ya commented on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 10:24am
ok thanks jusin :)
Justin Cooper commented on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 10:52am
@heather, update, apparently there are a few older posts that are no longer indexing (registering) in your society, but should be rare
Jun Ya commented on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 11:38am
thanks for checking, I'm just hoping that other people are getting all the love I've been sending them on older posts too :)
Chewgowski commented on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 5:16pm
Um the upcoming link is dead. Is this arty irony or am I just out of the loop.
Katerina commented on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 2:26am
Is there a way I can manage and remove items from my "Promoted Art" section? Clicking on the heart icon again does not seem to do it for me in Chrome version 52.0.2743.116 (64-bit).

Also, on other sites, the heart is typically used as an icon to add an item to your favorites, wishlists, and idea boards. But on Society6, there's a separate "Add to wishlist" button and clicking the heart icon promotes an item... I'd rather use the heart to add (and remove) wishlist items and have a separate button that clearly states clicking it will promote the item and artist.

Thank you !
sydneylouisewilliams commented on Friday, February 18, 2022 12:45pm
This feature is confusing, I agreed I would think the heart is used to add and remove things from my wishlist.
dillpickles91 commented on Sunday, March 6, 2022 12:35pm
I hearted a million things, thinking they were being added to my favorites. Now they're all lost :(
Zmoclov21 commented on Sunday, March 6, 2022 9:04pm
Same! So sad....
Eades commented on Saturday, April 9, 2022 11:38am
I also lost like 3 hours of my life hearting things thinking I saved them. I’m an irrational degree of angry,
Quikychic commented on Thursday, May 26, 2022 5:20am
It’s 2022 and I just lost hours to “hearting” things that now I cannot find. This feature is dumb dumb
Maxleron commented on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 6:42am
Thanks for this information, have a great day!
