Maritza Lugo has been drawing since she could remember.

Initially starting with doodles, she eventually gravitated towards comics, in particular, Archie comics. Adding Roy Lichtenstein to the fire, Maritza has always been inspired by colorful pop images that blend Americana and nostalgia. Maritza is a self taught freelance artist. She used to illustrate the feature, "Illustrated Tweet Of The Day" for the very popular website Hellogiggles.com, co-founded by Zooey Deschanel. Maritza was with HelloGiggles for three years. You've also seen her work on Nylon, PopSugar and BBC America. Amongst her many projects, Maritza is a die hard pop culture fiend. Much of her inspiration is derived from film and music.
