Lydia Ortiz is an illustrator, designer and art director living in San Francisco, CA with her husband and 2 cats. She was born in Manila, Philippines. Her childhood was filled with loud grandmas, animals, Filipino folklore, stories of ghosts, and regular visits to the witch doctor. She migrated to the United States when she was 19. She tried living in New York for 5 years but it was too damn cold.

Lydia draws stylized silhouetted figures in bold, graphic, and playful formations. She places them against bright palettes transporting the viewer into nostalgic spaces. Through abstraction, her work aims to visually describe the indescribable.

She does work for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Instagram, Teen Vogue, California Academy of Sciences, WIRED and more. She believes in science, ghosts, and other dimensions.
