Art is the greatest thing ever, because absolutely ANYONE and EVERYONE can make art. There are no rules, no right or wrong way to paint or sing or dance or write. And there is room for everyone. The more different kinds of art there are in the world, the better. So many times a work of art has given me perspectives on worlds I was unaware of. A chance to see through the eyes of a foreigner, or different gender, or a different historical period. Someone like Jenny Holzer or Chuck Close can show me a reality I can never live myself. I have always loved making and seeing art. As a child, I used to play hooky from school and spend days at the Metropolitan Museum of art which was (and is) free. Everyone there assumed I was with a class, but I was wandering the halls alone at age 12. I loved the African, Chinese, Egyptian and Modern exhibits best. You should make art of some kind, too.
