keith joseph lesser

abstract expressionist

I began painting in 2010 when one of my wife's friends gifted me with some blank canvases. I have always had artistic inclinations which originally started with drawing in ink, pencil, and charcoal in high school. I am excited to be able to turn my work into my second full time career when I get to retire from my regular 9 to 5 gig.

My biggest influences are Gerard Richter, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock and my father. My father Lou is also an abstract artist who would create geometric abstractions. I grew up with him always doing interesting projects around the house.

For my own work it is important for me to mix bright colors with a high contrast due to being colorblind. I think this helps ensure my pieces will always be unique. On top of that I like to repurpose a lot of material in my work such as found objects, used political campaign ads or used canvases found at the Goodwill.

I am currently based in Phoenix, Arizona. Please visit my site at www.kjl-ink.com or see my posts on Instagram @kjl_ink. Any of the original artwork found on my Instagram I can make available on my website. I can be reached for requests and commissioned work at kjl@kjl-ink.com
