Eating Strawberries

Strawberries started her art in 1997 whilst still in primary school, when she entered the Australian Red Cross competition, with a drawing depicting the kind of work the red cross do, and won the state wide award for Victoria, Australia. From there she continued to practice and explore art as much as she could with the limited access she had to the art world. She won her fist camera, a Minolta, in 2000, from the state “Water for Life challenge” in Victoria, Australia, which promoted the use of saving water, and from there a love of photography was born.

Artist Eating Strawberries’ first work under her professional name, was a poem called “Gothic Promise” which captured the eyes of some established artists on the internet in January 2010, which lead to a rapid increase in artistic exposure. Strawberries, now an established artist, specializes in fine-art alt fashion portrait photography, Gothic and grunge digital photo manipulations, and drawings, along side her poetry and Gothic short stories. She bases her work on her love for the Gothic sub-culture, Music, cinema and theater, and as any artist does, her own life experiences. Her work has been featured on numerous occasions, published in the Earth Monster Initiative Blog, Touched by Fire Art Bog, online magazine; “The Pink Panther” , digitalis magazine and Milk Magazine, and has her own artist book, titled “Outcast”, which is available on blurb.com. People and personalities fascinate Strawberries, and she is curious about emotions and memories, and how someone can be so affected by an idea. There is strong focus a lot on people and portraiture because of a fascination with psychology; what people think, what people feel, their secrets, their desires, their hate and their fear.Strawberries’ work has been previously exhibited in group art shows, “Exhibition 2010” and “Exhibition 2011” in Morwell, Victoria, Australia, her first solo show was on November 5th 2011, in Briagolong, Victoria, Australia, titled, “Animal Kingdom”, involved in the group show “The End, the Beginning: Counterfeits” at Switchback Gallery, Churchill Victoria on November 15th 2011, and her second solo show Febuary 2012, called “Mental Monsters.” Her third solo exhibition in July 2012 utilized the idea of "leaving behind" which lead to the "Great East Coast Exhibition" in which artworks were left on signs up the east coast of Australia.
