I explore themes related to indulgence, temptation, and comfort by creating objects that represent treats. My inspiration comes from vintage cookbooks, Betty Crocker and Martha Stewart, as well as from fictitious icons such as Marry Poppins and Willy Wonka. I make large quantities of sweets and pastries from fabric and household items. Felt, insulation foam, glitter, sponges, amongst other materials I use, hold a social context to domesticity and parallel the current trend of “do-it-yourself” home crafting. The abundance of the objects creates an illusion of decadence that normally wouldn’t be associated with sponges or cheap craft felt.
