Katy Horan is the newest creator to join the Rolf Contemporary roster of represented artists, and we are proud to exemplify her inspiring artistic talent and raw creativity.

“Katy Horan's paintings and drawings are meant to be the long lost folk art from an imaginary world. Based on a wide variety of interests and influences, her work tells stories about the characters and communities that populate this world. Originally from Texas, Katy has lived in 5 different cities and isn't ready to stop moving quite yet. Since receiving her BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2003, she has shown her work in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Louisville. For now, she lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. When not painting pictures of witches and horned ladies, Katy likes to bake pies, watch movies and play the banjo.”

In order to assist with the development of a new generation of creative artists, Rolf Contemporary Gallery of Art has announced today that they will be offering Benefactor Artist Representation Services to select applicants in order to help both established and bourgeoning artists cultivate their already successful art careers and assist them with project promotion, monograph publishing, artist collaborations, and the possibility of inclusion in the Rolf Contemporary Biennale. Using a network of third party resources, these Benefactor Artist Representation Services are designed to help artists focus on creating new work and experience the value of being represented by an eGallery entity while they continue on their paths of promoting their own work in a more effective manner. Sky Hero (http://www.last.fm/music/Sky+Hero) is the nom de plum of artist Kelly D. Williams, and the recipe is simply this: one part absurdity and two parts Hannett-esque obsession with mistakenly captured sounds. Sky Hero's debut full-length album Rose Hip [Silent Tracks Vol. 1] is anti-music for someone who craves episodic silence. If you're looking for nothing (literally, nothing) from ambient music, than Sky Hero has the treatment. Whether this is an art piece or an actual record, were unsure. You're welcome to ridicule this soundless effort, but its not that Sky Hero is cowardly; in fact, the absence of melody guarantees they will always have the last laugh.
