A Scout Book Rainbow
In organizing past print jobs, I came upon a veritable Scout Book Rainbow! These are pocket notebooks created by a selection of amazing clients. From left to right:

The Portland Saturday Market coupon book conceived by Jody Helfand and designed by Briar Levit (www.briarmade.com)

Brooklyn skyline by Andy Pratt (www.andypratt.net)

Promotional notebook by the Old Wood Company of Asheville, NC. (www.theoldwoodco.com)

Beer Journal by Dave Selden and BS Brewing (www.33beers.com)

and finally, a promotional notebook by Beardwood&Co. (www.beardwood.com)

Delightful!

Featured Print Project: Scout Book by HUB Collective
The HUB Collective is a Portland-based design group that printed this exquisite Scout Book with us. We just can't stop drooling over their perfect combination of bold color and photography! The teal Pantone soy ink they chose looks really great on the Scout Book's chipboard cover.

HUB is a homegrown group of artists, designers and web developers working out of a studio in Portland's Pearl district. www.hubltd.com

Featured Print Project: Scout Book by Mark Menjivar and Kate Bingaman-Burt
Mark Menjivar is a Texas-based photographer who explores food issues in his ongoing project, You Are What You Eat. Composed of portraits of the interiors of refrigerators across America, Menjivar documents and exposes the truths revealed by what we consume with our bodies.

Expertly illustrated by Kate Bingaman-Burt, these limited-edition Scout Books invite the user to document their eating habits for one month. The inside cover urges: “Think! Is it food? Who made it? Where did it come from? How did it taste? How fast did you eat it?”

One of the Scout Book’s 32 interior pages holds an original photograph by Menjivar, a beautiful peek of fresh sage living on in a refrigerator. All proceeds from the sale of these books will benefit Janus Youth Programs, a Portland non-profit with an urban agriculture program that employs, educates, and empowers at-risk youth.

These Food Journals are available exclusively at Ampersand Vintage, www.ampersandvintage.com
Featured Print Project: Perfect Bound Book for Marriage Records
Portland record label and publishing project Marriage Records just released this new publication, and we're proud to have printed it!

Wallace Cochran writes a creative non-fiction history of the rocket, and Marriage Records‘ publishing imprint MPH has released it in this gorgeous limited-edition book. One half of the band Drakkar Sauna, Cochran’s text lent itself to lyrics for the band’s latest release on Marriage Records.

This book was lovingly assembled from two colors of interior text-weight stock and wrapped in a cover letterpress printed by EMprint Press. Design was done by AF Jamison. As much an exploration of publishing as it is of paper and ink, we’re proud to have worked on this specimen of fine printing.

Around the shop
We want to share a glimpse into some of the daily operations at our printshop! We like to demystify the printing process as much as possible for creative folks like you, so it's easier to understand just what's happening when you send your work away to an offset printshop. Well, we can at least offer a glimpse into what happens when you send your work to us. We're not quite like other printshops! Hope you enjoy the peek into the printing world!

More photos like this are posted to our flickr stream. www.flickr.com/printpinball
