Afloat
"Afloat"
Ink, acrylic, and gouache on paper mounted on wood
18" x 24"

Here's my piece for the Manifest Equality show, which opens this Wednesday, the third, and is up until this Sunday night. You can find more info about the show here: http://manifestequality.com/about

It's kind of a companion to my piece "Adrift," but has the opposite mood. While "Adrift" was about loneliness and heartache, "Afloat" is about companionship and hopefulness.
Nip/Tuck
"Nip/Tuck"
Ink, acrylic, and gouache on paper
12.5" x 7.5"
[ADs: Jason Jones and Darrick Rainey]

Here is another illustration for my "LA-LA Land" column in LA Weekly. My idea was to poke fun at the crazy plastic surgery/botox trend you see all over LA. This woman is trying to look majestic and beautiful when all she really does is look creepy. I also wanted to include marks around the page to make it look like I'd be going to perform a little nip/tuck on the illustration itself.
I really wanted to contrast her gracious and regal pose and the elegant flow of the bandages and birds with some creepy lighting, to make her look more like the Bride of Frankenstein.

High Spirits
"High Spirits"
Ink, acrylic, and gouache on paper mounted on wood
18" x 24"

Here is my piece for the Happiness show at Perihelion Gallery in Phoenix, which is part of the 22nd annual Art Detour art walk (http://www.artlinkphoenix.com/).
Red Queen
"Red Queen"
Ink and acrylic on paper
12.5" x 7.5"

[ADs: Jason Jones and Darrick Rainey]

Another illustration for my LA Weekly column "LA-LA Land." I wanted it to look like (and poke fun at) the escort ads you can find in the back of LA Weekly and other free weeklies.

"No Man Is an Island"
Ink and acrylic on paper
10.75" across

I was invited to be part of the LOST Underground Art Project, a show at Gallery 1988 L.A. celebrating LOST. It's probably my favorite tv show, so I was really excited when I was asked to participate.
This piece is in the same vein as the last painting I did, but it features one of my favorite characters on the show, Ben Linus, as well as some other references to LOST.
